
OCRS has many great Outdoor Adventure Trips with the Arizona Climbing and Adventure School available for the 2010-2011 school year. Outdoor adventure trips provide unique opportunities for learning while having a blast! Here is a preview of trip offerings:
October 8-11, 2010 - Lake Powell Sea Kayaking
Spend 3-4 days exploring lake Powell via sea kayak. Camping on sand beaches and exploring labyrinth and face slot canyons will be the focus of the adventure.
November 6, 2010 - Rappelling
Spend the day rappelling from different heights, learning rope skills along with life skills. Can be done in Prescott or Phoenix depending on weather.
December 4, 2010 - Slot Canyon Canyoneering
Hike, swim, slide, and rappel through a slot canyon. May take place at one of many locations depending on the time of year.
January 15, 2011 - Climbing
Day climbing trips can be done all over the state depending on the time of year. Jack’s Canyon is up near Winslow for the warmer months and outside of Superior is a great for the cooler months, The Promised Lands is great for in between in Prescott.
February 18-21, 2011 - Joshua Tree Climbing
Participants will spend 3 days traveling to and climbing in Joshua Tree National Park. Camping in desert environments and LNT principles will also be taught.
March 14-18, 2011 (Adventure Week) - Join our Dean of Residential Life Jim Graves on an exciting and beautiful backpacking trip to Havasupai Falls
Participants will backpack 12 miles to camp riverside at Havasupai falls. The following days will be spent swimming in the pools and water falls with one day hiking to the confluence of the Colorado River.
April 8-11, 2011 - Paria Slot Canyon Backpacking
Backpacking for 3 nights though the deepest and narrowest slot canyon in the world. This pristine wilderness, with lush riparian areas, natural springs, and rich geology create wonderful learning opportunities.
May 7, 2011 - Hike to the top of the world (or maybe just Arizona)
Participants will attempt the non-technical summit of Mount Humphrey’s, the tallest point in Arizona. Upon reaching the summit the 360 degree views of Arizona are sure to amaze everyone.
