Oak Creek Ranch School Wildcat Basketball Team Shows Tremendous Improvement!

The Oak Creek Ranch School Wildcat basketball team fell just 2 seconds short of a victory on Wednesday, January 12th. OCRS led their opponent with a score of 14 to 4 in the first quarter; 22 to 15 at the half; and by 29 to 27 at the ≤ mark. In fact, the OCRS Wildcats were ahead the entire game until Rimrock High hit a basket with only 2 ticks left to go on the clock. For the first time, they took the lead by a score of 36 to 35. With the final basket remaining, Coach Andy Galley called a team ‘time out’ to prepare his next play. With the tension mounting, Eric L. passed to Andrei G. at half court and Andrei put up his best shot, shooting before the buzzer sounded. Unfortunately, his attempt fell short and the Wildcats were narrowly defeated. The high scorer for Oak Creek Ranch School was Andrei G with 25 points and “big man” Eric L. added 8. “Our boys and girls showed amazing determination and drive throughout the entire game. No one gave up. I’ve seen tremendous improvement in this Wildcat team over the season,” remarked Athletic Director, George Ireland.

This week, the OCRS Wildcat Basketball player of the week is Demi D. and this was her last game for the Wildcats. On Friday, January 14th, Demi graduates from Oak Creek Ranch School and will move to New Mexico to pursue her career in cosmetology. Demi came to OCRS from Arcadia High School in September with the goal of improving her grades. Looking back, Demi admitted, “I was very unhappy to be here at first but Oak Creek Ranch School has helped me SO much and I’ve made SO many good friends! I will miss it!” We will miss Demi, too. Good luck in all your endeavors and be sure to come back to see us, soon!
