The Oak Creek Ranch School softball team has started its season with five straight wins. They include victories over Canyon View of Prescott, Copper Canyon School, American Heritage School and two wins over South Verde High School. With the team midway through the season, things are looking good for a possible undefeated season and league championship.
Under the guidance of Coach Tony Hernandez the team has really come together. In an interview with Coach Hernandez he remarked that “This season has been a great way for students to learn sportsmanship, leadership, teamwork, and accountability. We have players that range from very experienced to no experience at all. They are all expected to go to practice every day and maintain their grades above 70% in order to be eligible to participate. I have seen a great deal of improvement among all players and a tremendous growth in teamwork. I am extremely excited and proud to be the coach of the 2012 OCRS softball team”.
The league championship tournament will be held on Wednesday, May 2. Coach Hernandez says the team is ready to compete.
